Schedule: Varies by assignment; typically between 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM (Monday–Friday), with occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekend sessions

About the Role

Role players perform in scripted and semi-scripted law-enforcement training scenarios at FLETC. These scenarios are designed to create realistic environments for trainees and may include:

  • Traffic stops and vehicle searches
  • Surveillance and interrogation exercises
  • DUI detection and arrest procedures
  • Evidence collection and suspect interviews

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately portray assigned characters and follow instructor direction during exercises
  • Arrive 30 minutes prior to scheduled sessions to check in, receive props, and review scenario details
  • Wear required spandex, wrist supports, and protective gear; remove personal items before training begins
  • Participate in 2–4 hour sessions; certain specialized labs may last up to 11 hours
  • Remain on site until dismissed and sign out after returning all props
  • Report any safety issues, injuries, or scenario deviations immediately to staff
  • Maintain professionalism at all times and avoid fraternizing with students

Minimum Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
  • At least 18 years of age (21+ preferred for certain roles)
  • Able to pass a background check; no felony convictions within the past six years
  • Physically capable of standing, walking, and performing role actions as required
  • Willing to wear protective gear and spandex
  • Valid driver’s license (required for roles involving vehicle operation)
  • Flexible schedule and ability to work varying hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in role playing, acting, or live training environments
  • Background in law enforcement, military, public safety, or emergency response
  • Ability to adapt quickly to dynamic scenarios and follow precise instructions
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and maintaining character integrity during exercises

Additional Information

These role player positions are contingent upon the award of contract. Candidates will be hired on an on-call basis and may accept or decline individual assignments depending on availability.
